Six years ago:
Now:Daniel and I had a whole day to celebrate our wedding anniversary. My in-laws were sweet enough to take the kids overnight, so we dropped them off Saturday morning and picked them up Sunday afternoon. It was wonderful to have time to do whatever we wanted without worrying about them.
We first did a session at the Bountiful Temple. Then back in Salt Lake, we grabbed some nachos to share at Barbacoa. We went across the street to the Tower Theater and saw Hitchcock's Rope. It was one of the most fun things we have ever done. We were in this old theater, complete with draperies on the sides of the screen, watching an old, suspenseful flick, with real thunder pounding outside during the perfect, quiet moments of the movie. I had to giggle a few times. It was perfect.
After the movie, we went to the New Yorker for one more fancy, free dinner (using frequent diner gift certificates from my old job). Daniel got his favorite lobster tail. We then stopped by a wedding reception, went grocery shopping, and watched the bonus features on the new "Les Miserables" movie until we were too tired. It was the perfect, relaxing day to spend with just the two of us.
I'm so grateful for the choice I made six years ago.
Daniel is the best husband, father, and friend I could ever ask for.
