Stanford's Blessing

We blessed Stanford on Sunday, February 3.  It was a beautiful, sunny day.  We had so many family members come support him.  Our dads and brothers stood in the circle, and Daniel gave him a beautiful blessing.  I felt a lot of gratitude for the family I was born into, the family I married into, and the family Daniel and I have created.  Here we are at the end of a wonderful and busy day.
It was a very unusual Sunday at church.  Just as the testimony portion of sacrament meeting was beginning, the bishopric announced that there was a small fire in the back of the building and we needed to reverently evacuate.  So the rest of church was cancelled for the day.  A fire truck came, but we later learned that it was just a burnt out motor or fan that was smoking, so there was no real danger. Earlier that day, Daniel and I had been trying to decide whether to serve dinner at our house after sacrament meeting or after the entire church block.  I guess it became a moot point.

Because we got out of church earlier than planned, we had more guests at our house than we had planned on.  We had about 50 people over, including kids.  It was a bit of madness from the beginning, but it was so great to have everyone here.  Daniel found this idea for BBQ sundaes which were a really fun dinner idea.  We cooked some beef and pork roasts and layered meat and potatoes and gravy in a clear cup.  The finishing touch was a cherry tomato on top.  It was a hit!  Thank you to everyone who helped provide the food.  I tried it all, and it was all delicious!

Of course, I wish I had a chance to visit more with everyone.  It's hard when there are so many people and you're trying to host and take pictures and eat and feed the baby, etc. etc. etc.

Bentley showed Liam his geo trax trains, and they had fun driving them under the sofa "tunnel."

Four generations.  I was so happy my sweet Grandma was able to make the trip.

This was the only close-up picture I took of Stanford on his big day.  He is so precious!

My family is not all together very often, so we take advantage of the opportunity for a group shot.
I apparently didn't get very many pictures of Daniel's family.  We see them so often and they come and go so quickly.  I'll have to try harder next time.  I also don't have many pictures of me with my kids, so I made sure to get one this time.  It was such a wonderful day to remember!
