More Fun in Oak City

We were in Oak City from December 23 through January 1.  Daniel had to go back to SLC for a few days of work in between though.  We always enjoy the slow pace in Oak City and the comfort of my parents' home.  We were there for a long time, though, and the kids were ready to return home by the end of our stay.

Funny story: The last day of our trip, Sunday, Emersen was very anxious to go home to "Mommy's house."  She protested when we turned the corner to my parents' house after church.  We explained that we had to change our clothes, pack our bags, eat dinner, and then we could go home.   A little later, Daniel was saying the blessing on the food.  When he paused in the middle, Emersen interjected, "Thank you we can go home to mommy's house."  Daniel finished the prayer with all of us trying to suppress our giggles.  She's honest!

But we had many fun moments during our stay:

We played with "Annie's Baby Gordon Oakley," as Emersen calls him.  She's so sweet with him.

Bentley found this hat of Grandpa's and wore it off and on all week.  Can you say adorable?

Grandma helped Emersen make cookies with her new apron and cookie cutters.  I love this picture.  Some of my fondest memories from growing up are making cookies with my grandmothers.

We watched A LOT of movies.  I introduced Emersen to Enchanted, and after seeing it a couple times, she was singing the songs.  "That's how you know . . . "

We played games and did puzzles and read books galore.

Bentley spent one evening dressed like this.  We decided he looked like a little longshoreman, or dock worker.

I managed to catch this typical glare of his when he's deciding if he's going to disobey you.

My aunt gave me this awesome 1000-piece puzzle of London from the "Hometown Collection."  I love it.  I traveled to London with my aunt a while ago so we have these shared memories of it.  It only took us a couple days to complete.

The kids love my mom's Christmas village, especially this skating rink that magnetically moves the skaters around in circles.  They played with it like a doll set, and surprisingly my mom didn't get too stressed out about it.  It sure was nice of her because they LOVED it.

Thanks again, Mom and Dad, for letting us invade!  We all love you!
